April 15, 2022
MONTEREY COUNTY – The challenge is on Monterey County! This is the time to take advantage of the extra hour of daylight and move your body in the Move It Monterey County Challenge.
The “Move it Monterey County” Challenge is presented by the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) in co-sponsorship with Blue Zones Monterey County and MY Museum, April 18 – May 31, 2022. The goal is to encourage anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Monterey County to get out and move their bodies for health, mind, and community.
There are many great ways to participate in the Move It Monterey County Challenge such as joining a Blue Zones walking Moai (small groups walking together), biking on your lunch break, hiking with friends or family, or joining a walking school bus.
Salinas residents can also get points for walking or biking through the temporary protected bike lanes in front of Harden Middle School on McKinnon Street from April 20 – May 18.
Participating in the Challenge is easy as 1-2-3
1. Bike, walk, take a bus or carpool to work, school, to shops or just for fun (bike and walk trips get double points)!
2. Track your trip on Go831.Rideamigos.com or the CommuteTracker app.
3. You’ll be automatically entered for a chance to win a new bicycle after you track your first trip.
Prizes
Individuals, teams, schools, and worksites can compete to win prizes valued at more than $7, 000. Prizes giveaways include gift cards to local businesses, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, bike/skateboard racks and an electric bike for the winning worksite.
