MONTEREY COUNTY – The Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) is pleased to announce the winners of the “Move It Monterey County” Challenge, which occurred April 1 – May 5, 2023.

The goal of the challenge presented by TAMC in co-sponsorship with Blue Zones Project Monterey County and MY Museum, was to encourage anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Monterey County to get out and move their bodies for health, mind, and community.

Participants competed as individuals, teams, schools, and worksites  to win prizes valued at more than $7,000 by earning points for any bike, walk, bus or carpool trip to work, school, shopping or just for fun. Prize giveaways include gift cards to local businesses, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, bike/skateboard racks and an electric bike to use as a transportation vehicle for the winning worksite.

The King City community dominated the challenge this spring, with participants winning in three of the five prize categories.

In total, 62 participants of the “Move It Monterey County” Challenge logged a total of 2,519 trips, for a total of 27,827 miles, burned 0.4 million calories (about 32000 minutes of running), saved $16,000 by not driving, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 9.9 tons.  

The “Move It Monterey County" Challenge supports the Transportation Agency’s Active Transportation Plan, Safe Routes to School Program and Go831 Smart Commute Program. TAMC, along with Blue Zones Monterey County encourages Monterey County to keep moving and to join us in the Fall of 2023 for the next Move It Monterey County Challenge!

TAMC ANUNCIA LOS GANADORES DEL "MOVE IT MONTEREY COUNTY SPRING CHALLENGE"

CONDADO DE MONTEREY - La Agencia de Transporte del Condado de Monterey (TAMC) se complace en anunciar a los ganadores del Desafío "Move It Monterey County", que tuvo lugar del 1 de abril al 5 de mayo de 2023.

El objetivo del desafío presentado por TAMC en copatrocinio con Blue Zones Project  Monterey County y MY Museum, fue alentar a cualquier persona que viva, trabaje o asista a la escuela en el condado de Monterey a salir y mover sus cuerpos por la salud, la mente y la comunidad.

Los participantes compitieron como individuos, equipos, escuelas y lugares de trabajo para ganar premios valorados en más de $ 7,000 al ganar puntos por cualquier viaje en bicicleta, caminata, autobús o viaje compartido al trabajo, la escuela, las compras o simplemente por diversión. Los premios incluyen tarjetas de regalo para empresas locales, bicicletas, scooters, patinetas, portabicicletas / patinetas y una bicicleta eléctrica para usar como vehículo de transporte para el lugar de trabajo ganador.

La comunidad de King City dominó el desafío esta primavera, con participantes que ganaron en tres de las cinco categorías de premios.

En total, 62 participantes del desafío "Move It Monterey County" registraron un total de 2,519 viajes, para un total de 27,827 millas, quemaron 0.4 millones de calorías (aproximadamente 32000 minutos de carrera), ahorraron $ 16,000 por no manejar y redujeron las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero en 9.9 toneladas. 

El desafío "Move It Monterey County" apoya el Plan de Transporte Activo de la Agencia de Transporte, el Programa de Rutas Seguras a la Escuela y el Programa de Viaje Inteligente Go831. TAMC, junto con Blue Zones Monterey County alienta al Condado de Monterey a seguir moviéndose y unirse a nosotros en el otoño de 2023 para el próximo Move It Monterey County Challenge.
