Toro Park Cut-Through Traffic Pilot Project Remains in Place to Try New Features and Evaluate Changing Traffic Conditions
The Transportation Agency and County of Monterey are sponsoring a pilot project to address cut-through traffic and safety concerns in Toro Park and Serra Village.
The agencies installed Phase I that closed the entrance to Highway 68 at Torero Drive on July 12. Phase II was installed on September 27 and closed the entrance to Portola Drive at Creekside Court.
The Transportation Agency continues to work with Caltrans to improve traffic flow on Highway 68 with signal modifications and improvements to the merge.
TAMC is hosting a community meeting on Tuesday October 8, at 6:00 pm at San Benancio Middle School to listen to community members and understand what the pilot project did right and where it missed. This information will guide staff recommendations to the TAMC Board meeting on October 23 at 9:00.
Until further notice, the pilot project will stay in place as the agencies continue to try new features and evaluate changing traffic conditions. Calls or emails with questions or concerns about the project can sent to: Doug Bilse, TAMC Traffic Engineer, doug@tamcmonterey.org or 760.473.8058.
